There is something special about photographing local businesses in Bellingham, Washington.

One of my favorite parts about being a photographer in Bellingham, Washington is getting to capture the local places that give this city so much personality. Cafe Blue is one of those spots—a cozy neighborhood café filled with good coffee, warm details, and the kind of relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile.


I recently brought my camera along to capture a little slice of life at Cafe Blue in Bellingham: coffee being made behind the counter, friends spending time together, quiet moments over a drink, and all of the little details that make a local coffee shop feel special.

Coffee, Community & Everyday Moments



There is something I love about photographing cafés. They aren't just places to grab a cup of coffee—they're gathering spaces.


People meet friends, work on creative projects, go on dates, read, study, or simply take a moment for themselves.


While photographing Cafe Blue, I wanted the images to feel natural rather than overly staged. I captured the barista at work, a couple enjoying time together, a young woman relaxing with her coffee, drinks on the table, and some of the café's unique interior details.


These everyday moments tell the story of a business in a way that a traditional posed photograph often can't.

Photographing Local Businesses in Bellingham



Since moving to the Bellingham area, I've loved getting to know the city through my camera. From local cafés and musicians to markets, artists, small businesses, and community events, there is so much creativity here.


As a Bellingham branding and business photographer, I especially enjoy creating images that show what it actually feels like to walk into a business.


For a café, that might mean the steam rising from a fresh drink, a barista preparing an order, friends laughing across a table, or the small design details that someone carefully chose for the space.


Those photographs can then become content for a business's website, Google Business Profile, social media, advertising, and other marketing materials.

Supporting Bellingham's Local Coffee Scene



Exploring locally owned businesses has quickly become one of my favorite ways to experience Bellingham. Places like Cafe Blue remind me how much personality small businesses bring to a community.


And, of course, photographing coffee isn't exactly a difficult assignment to enjoy.
