Family Session Prep

A Relaxed, Connection-First Portrait Experience

Family sessions with Jessie are designed to feel easy, playful, and present — not stiff or overly posed. The goal isn’t perfect behavior or forced smiles, but genuine connection and moments that feel like you.

You don’t need to prepare perfectly. You just need to show up.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your session will be gently guided with movement, prompts, and simple actions that allow real moments to unfold naturally. Kids are encouraged to move, explore, and be themselves.

Expect:

A calm, unhurried pace

Direction that feels supportive, not performative

Space for kids to be kids

Natural interaction rather than stiff posing

You never need to worry about what to do — Jessie will guide you every step of the way.

Helping Kids Feel Comfortable

The more relaxed your children feel, the more authentic your images will be.

A few ways to set everyone up for success:

Talk about the session positively (a fun adventure, not a test)

Avoid pressure to “smile” or behave perfectly

Make sure kids are fed, rested, and comfortable

Bring small snacks or comfort items if helpful

If breaks are needed, we take them. Nothing is rushed.

Timing & Arrival

Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early so we can begin relaxed and ease into the experience together. Arriving on time allows us to work intentionally and make the most of the light without feeling hurried.

Life happens — if someone is sick or the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll reschedule. Same-day no-shows result in forfeiting the session fee.
